Solar and Battery Storage for Napa County Homes and Wineries

Solar and battery power for Napa County homes

Sun First Solar installs residential solar and battery systems throughout Napa County, and you can reach our team at 415-458-5870. Homeowners comparing solar companies in Napa and across Napa County usually want two things from the very first day: panels that bring the power bill down and a battery that keeps the house running when the power goes out. That's why we design and sell solar and battery storage as one system, sized together from the start. We're a family-run solar company serving Napa from our San Rafael office. Take your time, and when you're ready, we'll put together a free quote for your home.

Serving Napa, American Canyon, St. Helena, Calistoga, Yountville and the Napa Valley

Our installation crews cover the whole county, from the south end near American Canyon up the valley to Calistoga. Napa solar projects we take on include homes in:

• Napa
• American Canyon
• Yountville
• St. Helena
• Calistoga
• The rural and unincorporated Napa Valley, out along the vineyard roads between towns

Napa County spans about 752 square miles with roughly 176 people per square mile, so plenty of homes here sit well outside any town. That spread is the reason we serve the whole county, and a house at the end of a long country road gets the same crew and the same care as one in town. Service details are confirmed for each address before we prepare a proposal.

Solar and battery storage built for estate living and wine country

Larger homes and vineyard estates in Napa County usually run a lot more than the kitchen and the lights. A well pump, irrigation, a wine fridge or a cool cellar all need steady power, and an outage at the wrong time can mean dry taps or a warm cellar. A battery sized for the whole property keeps those things running, so your backup covers what you'd really miss.

Napa County's own fire history is part of why outage planning matters here. The Atlas, Tubbs and Nuns fires all burned in the county in October 2017, and between them they covered more than 130,000 acres across Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. Many households here now plan around Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and a battery lets your home get through one on stored solar power.

Our team is a certified Tesla Powerwall installer, so Napa homeowners who want a Powerwall get it designed, permitted and installed by the same company that handles their solar. The Powerwall 3 offers whole-home backup and scales from 13.5 to 67.5 kWh, which leaves room to grow on a bigger property. We also install Enphase IQ Batteries, which give power-hungry appliances the extra surge they need to start smoothly during an outage, and that matters for something like a well pump. You can read more about our solar battery storage options, and we've been installing battery systems ever since our first off-grid solar and battery project back in 2004.

Napa County's older homes and rural character

Close to 7 in 10 homes in Napa County were built before 1980. Many of those houses have good bones, but an electrical panel from that era was built for a lighter load than solar, a battery, an EV charger and modern air conditioning, and an older roof may need some attention before panels go on.

So a solar design here starts with the house itself. Our team reviews the roof, the electrical service and where the panels and battery will sit, then handles the design, permits, installation and interconnection from start to finish. Every installation is done by Sun First employees, so the people who plan your system come from the same company that installs it.

The land around those homes has its own story. Napa County created its agricultural preserve in 1968, first zoning about 23,000 acres for farming, wineries and low-density housing. That's a big reason so much of the county outside its five cities is still open vineyard land, with homes spread out on larger lots along country roads.

Community choice energy, tax credits and financing

Every city in Napa County gets its electricity supply through MCE Community Choice Energy, and MCE reports that close to nine in ten accounts in the city of Napa are enrolled. That's something neighbors share whether they live in American Canyon or up in Calistoga. Your current bill is where our free analysis starts, so the savings we show you reflect what you're paying today.

Federal tax credits for home solar have changed, and it helps to have someone walk through them with you. The 30% federal credit for homeowners covered systems installed through the end of 2025. Our experts will guide you through all the potential tax credits and incentives for your project as things stand now. Wineries and other businesses have their own options, including federal tax credits and accelerated depreciation, and our page on commercial solar for businesses covers those. Flexible financing is available too, whether you'd like to buy your system outright or choose a loan with manageable monthly payments.

Why Napa County homeowners choose Sun First Solar

Sun First Solar has been part of the Northern Bay Area solar industry since 1984, and we're still a locally owned family business. Every installation is done by our own certified crew, a team that has completed hundreds of jobs across California, including San Jose, Oakland and Marin. People weighing solar installers in Napa often want to know who will actually show up at the house, and with us it's always a Sun First employee.

We hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and our panels carry a 25-year manufacturer warranty. Many of our clients make back the cost of their solar system within the first five to seven years. Our custom residential solar systems are designed around your home and the way you use power, from a company with four decades of Bay Area experience that counts Napa County as part of its service area.
